Ian Moon
Coach
Ian was planning a move to the Isle of Man in 2001, so he did
some research and realised that a purchase of a kayak would be a
good idea to bring with. In a VW camper van full of his belongings
and a kayak strapped to the top of the van, Mr. Ian Moon arrived on
the island. After some years of settling to the Manx ways Ian
developed a love for the sea and shore lifestyle of the Isle of
Man.
Ian's outdoor lifestyle
had started back when he was a child growing up the south London/
Kent streets he was very active skateboarder, roller-skater and BMX
rider competing in some amateur events. As Ian grew up he
developed a love for surfing and mountain biking and became a
regular surfer weather summer or winter.
In 2009 Ian became a member of the Adventure Club, paddling once
or twice a week (missus permitting), and has always been committed
to the progression of his fellow students and development of his
own performance and coaching experience.
In 2010 Ian entered the Isle of Man adventure race and completed
in every discipline, with his team coming 4thoverall. In
2011 Ian was back! His team ranked first in 3 disciplines, taking
the winner's trophy for that year.
He enjoys the interaction with the students and is always
willing to put a tow line on to give a needed hand if required. Ian
has paddled around the Isle of Man twice. Once as part of a
small team, then a solo paddle over 2 days. Ian is a regular at the
Isle of Man and Anglesey symposiums and enjoys assisting on the
tidal race days, tow rope in hand.
Anytime we have some good surf or hard running tidal races you
will find Ian in it practising skills and leading techniques. Ian's
long term goals are to become a great coach and undertake some
committing open crossings.
His hobbies also include Surfing, Mountain biking, Sea swimming,
Diving and Photography.
Adventurous Experiences coaches are highly trained,
motivated and qualified to run the activities we offer. All coaches
hold national governing body coaching awards, have certified First
Aid training, complete continuous coach development and personal
skills acquisition, have the full support of Adventurous
Experiences and have the customer as their primary
focus.
