Vancouver Is. Record 2007
Vancouver Island
2007 Circumnavigation - New Record!
In May 2007, there
was a new record laid down for the Circumnavigation of Vancouver
Island in a Sea Kayak. Two kayakers; Keirron Tastagh (Adventurous
Experiences, IOM) and Jeff Norville (Portland, US) had never met
before, paddled a double kayak 700 miles around Vancouver Island,
broke all existing times, finishing in 19 and a half days! The duo
paddled a pink kayak in an effort to raise both awareness and funds
for Breast Cancer. The idea was inspired by mutual friend and
fellow paddler, Ginni Callahan, who triumphed over breast
cancer the previous autumn.

Experiences youtube channel.
This was achieved in a Sea Kayaking UK 'Triton'
double kayak (previous records - 26 days in a double and 28 days in
a single kayak) and proved that the sleek and very manoeuvrable Sea
Kayaking UK Triton double kayaks can be used for longer expeditions
and are fast as well!
