As an absolute beginner wishing to enter the sport of
Sea Kayaking, our low student to coach ratio ensures optimum safety
and learning, whilst allowing great flexibility for different
needs.
We aim to offer our students courses and tuition to
whatever level they aspire. For outlines of our most
popular courses, please see the Courses
page.
How to Begin
Book onto our 'Discover Sea Kayaking' course, using our How to Book page.
Two options are available depending upon your water
confidence
Sept to May
4 sessions in the Indoor Pool covering 'Kayak Safety &
Core Skills', increasing water confidence and safety. Learn and
practice rescue skills to suit different situations, core
stability, preventing a capsize and how
to manoeuvre your kayak. All in the comfort of an
indoor heated pool,
followed by 2 sessions in the sea, progressing these skills.
Year Round
For those who want to get straight onto the sea.
4 sessions on the sea, aiming to experience four different
stretches of coastline (where possible) using journeying and
discovery to learn the basics of sea kayaking.
Tuition for Children
For 'young adventurers' between the age of 10 - 14, we may
advise the Indoor Pool option prior to paddling on the sea, in
order to increase confidence and enjoyment at this important stage.
Due to varying individual stages of development, we do not
give specific age restrictions or guarantees.
WE PROVIDE ALL NECESSARY KIT
AND EQUIPMENT, HIGH QUALITY AS STANDARD.
Coaching sessions are typically two hours in duration, from
meeting at the beach 'til returning to the put-in.
Progression
Both of the above courses complement one another,
and provide a sound base of skills and awareness from which
individuals can enter and progress in the sport. Following
this and for those with existing skills, we offer Structured
Courses on the sea and in the pool, to acquire new skills and
progress their personal paddling. A 'weekly session' PLP pathway is
also available, see below.
Students can progress through British Canoe Union (the National
Governing Body for Paddlesport in the UK)
BCU Performance Awards - Star Tests when skills are suitably
ready. Our courses and programs also suit those who have their
own kit and equipment.
Adventure Club
"a
network of like minded people who want to regularly experience
unforgettable adventures on (and off) the Isle of Man, under the
guidance of our qualified, experienced instructors"
For those who wish to continue paddling with us on a regular
basis, being part of the adventure
club is a far reaching lifestyle choice, and alongside the
social aspects runs our progressive learning program.
Progressive Learning Program (PLP)

Available as multi-day block courses - for complete packages
including B+B or Hotel accommodation please see package
pages.
As part of our ongoing commitment to raising the level of
outdoor skills and safety on and off Island, we introduce modules
of the Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning Course at an early
stage. This is certificated when all modules are completed and
signed off. We also regularly practice many elements of the BCU
Foundation Safety and Rescue Award. When students are sufficiently
practiced, an assessment for the Award will be offered.
Private Tuition
For small groups who want the session or trip to themselves.
This particularly suits students who have a specific objective they
wish to concentrate on.
One to One Tuition also Available - in all cases please contact us to
discuss your requirements.
