Outline
The Isle of Man Adventure Race is a series of timed disciplines
over 2 days - the team of 4 with the lowest points, having the
completed all five disciplines with the specified number
of team members in each event, wins.
Note
Points given in order of finish position in each race, with
first place scoring the lowest points. Where two competitors are
required from each team, their times are combined to give a
position.
Actual leg times for each active competitor will be available
from the central control point on completion of each event,
and a printed version will be given to each team at the prize
presentation on the Sunday.
The Isle of Man Adventure Race uses SPORTident timing solutions
equipment to ensure a fair race, accurate times and efficient turn
around of results.
This is the same equipment used to time the Manx End 2 End
Mountain Bike Race and the Isle of Man
Parish Walk, supplied for the Isle of Man Adventure Race
by Manx Timing
Solutions.
Although every effort will be made to stick to the planned
routes and activities; Adventurous Experiences
reserves the right to change disciplines and locations due to
safety considerations and weather conditions on the day.
We have alternative locations and arrangements in place should this
be necessary.
Organisers reserve the right to pull competitors from a
discipline if safety is breached. This may extend to the entire
event if deemed necesary.
Every competitor carries a tiny waterproof microchip, known as a
'dibber' which the competitior uses to dib in at the finish line.
Dibbers must be then downloaded at the race trailer after each
discipline.
Each team will enter the specified number
of competitors per team - either one or two persons
depending upon discipline. Each team member must compete in two
disciplines.
** Safety constraints necessitate
extra entries in disciplines not possible **
Basic navigation will be needed to follow the routes, maps are
supplied as part of the entry fee.
A maximum point score will be added as penalty to any team, per
competitor required for non-completion or non-entry to each
discipline.
All safety equipment including bicycle helmets must be worn and
fastened at all times whilst racing.
For safety and in the team spirit, kayakers will paddle with
fellow team member from start location until completion of the
race. If sea conditions on the day allow us to update this rule
(covered in the pre-race safety briefing), competitors will be
informed at the competitor briefing on the day.
Looking forward to it!
