Janet first began
paddling in Peel swimming pool and progressed quickly onto the sea
in time for some great summer paddling. She now reflects that as
the winter drew in she kept waiting to be told that kayaking would
cease until the next summer, however she kept turning up every week
and quickly learned that winter paddling could be just as much,
if not more, fun as the adrenalin rush kicks in. She is a firm believer
that rolling is over rated and as a beginner just concentrated on
not capsizing in the first place in the rough winter conditions.
Janet works full
time as the Marketing Manager for a Private Bank in Douglas and
loves the variation in her work. In her spare time she studies Spanish,
and is also currently working towards the RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Janet likes to keep fit and visits the gym every lunchtime and plays
squash and swims once a week. You may have even seen her blading
up and down Douglas Promenade!

Janet
has adapted the paddling philosophy that "no matter how good
we are we are always between swims" to her love of travelling.
Janet permanently feels that she is between travelling trips but
at least the time in between on the island means that she can get
in lots of paddling around the stunning coastline of the Isle of
Man.
